It's just me

My life turned out to be far more interesting and diverse than I ever imagined it would be. I thought that becoming a doctor would be my most salient accomplishment, but it proved to be primarily a stepping-stone for new endeavors and opportunities. My sixth grade teacher chided me for being "slow," so I never imagined that I would one day graduate in the top 1% of my class in medical school and do the other things that I've done. However, I serendipitously discovered a way to expand brainpower, which led me to conclude that educators are overly pessimistic in assessing the true potential of their students. We all have remarkable latent abilities, but those talents usually remain dormant because educators are more enamored with lackluster teaching practices than they are with looking at innovative ways to fuel intellectual growth. I want to help others unlock their potential, so I discuss this in two of my web sites and in an upcoming series of books. I wrote several other books, most of which pertain to some facet of health. Speaking of health, I ardently believe that the best way to achieve it is by eating nutritious foods, exercising, and living an enjoyable lifestyle that makes me relish the days to come. Unlike most MDs, I think that pharmaceuticals are grossly overutilized and divert patients from addressing better ways to augment health and happiness.

One of my greatest joys in life is being creative. I've built hundreds of things, including electronic stethoscopes, phonocardiographs, echophonocardiographs, invasive and noninvasive metal detectors, intubation detectors, a noninvasive cardiac output monitor, a portable prescription printer, a copying machine, a histographic accelerometer, and even a robotic lawn mower! One of my best inventions is a site that enables users to contact people on personals sites and other Internet pages without the need to pay those sites or to create an account with them. If you want to contactmefree, you can now do it. I just finished another site (www.myprofilewriter.com) that allows people to create the essay portion of their personal profiles for online dating just by clicking. Users of that site can also choose from hundreds of catchy headlines. And it's all free! I am currently planning a new site to help single mothers. That is important to me because my Mom struggled as a single mother for many years. I think this world would be a better place if people did more for others. I enjoy doing favors for those who need help and cannot reciprocate. For example, I once lived about a mile from an elderly man who lost a leg in World War 2. After a blizzard, I noticed that he had four feet of snow in his driveway and porch, so I spent that afternoon digging him out.

My latest interest is building fancy hand-carved doors, cupolas, and other jaw-dropping building accouterments. I recently built a shed that is convincingly shaped like a lighthouse (see my picture of it). I enjoy just about anything that deals with building or renovating homes, and I did a lot of the work on my home. Although I enjoy intellectual pursuits, I can be just as happy moving dirt with my tractor or using various power tools. They are great enablers.

I am kind, loving, considerate, energetic, enthusiastic, and optimistic. Physically, I look young for my age, I have blue eyes, and a much better body than I did years ago. When I got out of my residency program, I was so fat that I could not see my feet when I stood up. However, I learned enough about weight loss to write a book on that subject, and I discovered a way to lose weight without dieting, drugs, herbs, exercise, or surgery (yes, I know how implausible that must sound, given the plethora of unsubstantiated weight loss hype, but it is true).

Some of my interests include snowmobiling, riding my Sea-Doo (Jet-ski), shopping, baking, bicycling, camping, exercising, watching movies, traveling, and being outdoors. I love kids, so if you have children, that is fine. At my last house I was good friends with a family that included five children, and we'd do all sorts of things together: go boating and swimming, ride my Sea-doo, take bike rides, play baseball, bake cookies, eat pizza, go snowmobiling, watch movies, I'd help them with their computer or with homework, and so on. I truly enjoyed that. I don't mind doing housework, and I have a knack for organization.

My ideal match is an intelligent and educated woman who is interesting, fun, down-to-earth, kind, and more pragmatic than ethereal. I am not interested in women who are game players, fixated on past traumas, use drugs, drink excessively, engage in casual sex, or are fond of ostentation.

I have more pictures of myself on this page:

Yes, I know that the Terms of Service limits people to one page/profile per person, but I own the site. :-)

This is primarily a shortened version of the profile above:

The following text is from my sample profile that I posted on this site's FAQ page:

I am an energetic, enthusiastic, and creative man who has a lot to offer the right woman. If you are intelligent, interesting, and looking for a loving relationship leading to marriage, I may be the one for you! I keep busy with my job, socializing with friends, and working in my yard. I like to build unusual things, such as a shed that looks just like a lighthouse. I enjoy doing favors for those who need help and cannot reciprocate. For example, I once lived about a mile from an elderly man who lost a leg in World War 2. After a blizzard, I noticed that he had four feet of snow in his driveway and porch, so I spent that afternoon digging him out.

I think that our governor and state legislators need to cooperate more instead of carrying on endless rivalries that are rooted in party politics, not logic. However, bitter political discord is not a new phenomenon; even our Founding Fathers had vitriolic disputes with one another.
